    Description

Hi mates. I've worked on a creation (majority of the work is behind Ishtara!) which I would like to share with you. I’ve tried different interfaces and many different kind of elements for creating one, but I have never been able to create anything as gorgeous and creative as Ishtara's UI. I wanted to take that look and the details from his interface into my old interface's construction. I downloaded his UI, and made the new version of iLive user interface.

iLive user interface is made for healers who search for an interface, that makes it easier to concentrate and focus due to the clear view and the central big raid frames (Grid). I have pushed the interface to be as simple as possible by avoiding extra bars, frames or anything interrupting the view. What I do want is a clear sight for the player, so he/she can give the best performance for his/her raid with all the necessary information.

The interface is created on a widescreen with 1920 x 1080 as resolution, so if you use a different resolution you will need to move the different bars, frames etc. I have scaled them so I take advantage of my widescreen, so you might need to rescale aswell. This isn't that hard, and can easily be performed by anyone who have a medium knowledge in addons. If this is first time for you, just experiment and try, and it might help you to understand the addons a lot more (this is the way I learned how to edit addons). If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to guide you through it. HF for Ishtara and his work!

NEW FEATURE: Restoration Druids can now handle their healing over time spells more effectively with the new additions to Grid settings (use this as inspiration if you're not a Restoration Druid.). Simple and elegant thanks to Resto4Life.com. You can see the additions with explanation in following link: http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/3972/unavngivet.tif

This might be a personal thing, but I really dislike it when people claim their interface to be "Better for concentrating", "Easier to focus", etc etc. Interface layout is a personal preference.

I think we all know that a more clear interface makes it easier to focus on something (try to focus on a black dot on a white board compared to a colored dot with 100x other colored dots moving around). So technically it's true that clearer view gives easier focus. Besides the written text is from a personal perspective and it does make it easier for me. I'm explaining my thoughts and opinions, and I try to add constructive arguments, so by claiming it's giving more ease, I say it from my own perspective. But I agree that the best interface setup is made from a player herself/himself, but that doesn't change the fact that the more simple the better concentration.

There's a line where something gets messed up and only a few people can focus. I've tried to move as far away from that line and give more ease to focus.

I really like this UI. Looks like I can tailor it to work well with all of my characters, especially my two healers. I love this :D

While I'm not one for super minimalistic UI's, I do favor them for my healers. While it's certainly a matter of preference I have found that screen clutter is distracting. I tend to junk up my frames with crap like clcbpt when I can just make grid indicators. I tend to clutter up my screen with ForteXorcist junk on healers when I could just install Inline Aura. I tend to clutter up my action bars when I could just install OPie. I'm remaking my UI for the second time in a week and I think I'll use this for inspiration, among a couple others.

Good multi-class UI, I should be able to tailor something like this to every character I have. Awesome :D

This looks really nice man! Is there any chance that you could upload it so people can download it ? =)

Elements of an interface being clearer, more legible, easier to use, etc, is not as much down to user preference as a lot of people might think. There are certain rules and laws that apply. Everyone is entitled to choose something less usable, but you can't argue against some basic facts.

To take a very common example (that is relevant to healing UIs) there is Fitt's Law: Basically put, the time it takes to click a target is a function of how close it is to your mouse's starting position and it's size. So any UI that contains elements that need clicking frequently, the further apart they are the bigger they should be. Other rules also apply. It's easier to distinguish things with high contrast than things with low contrast. Fonts with distinct letter forms are easier/faster to read (users of pixel fonts take note). etc. You can't argue against this stuff.

So while one might prefer all dark grey bars on medium grey backgrounds because it looks cool (and it's a game so that's a valid choice), if someone tells you their high contrast bars work better, they are actually correct.

    [/rant] :-P

None of that is particularly specific to this UI. I love the layout, very tight and nice visibility for a healer. Good work. :-)
